Do we have a moral obligation to leave a healthy planet for future generations?

If actions we take now could make the earth livable for our great grand-children in 100 years, do we have an ethical obligation to do so? Or should we just keep kidding ourselves, and hope the future will never come? "the earth is more livable now than it ever has been"???? Hasn't anyone in real life ever warned you about making up facts?

  1. No we do not. Earth first. We will get the other planets later.
  2. not if they are gonna be a bunch of welfare case, hippies like you....i say use it up all now...
  3. We have a duty to our fellow man NOW!!! As well as future humanity!
  4. Naaw - Rush says the world's eco-system is too strong for us to affect it.
  5. Yes we do.
  6. Yeah, but your question assumes that the planet is unhealthy to start with. The human race is more environmentally responsible than it has ever been. Well, except for the entire Third World, but I can't control them.
  7. If we wish to preserve the planet for the future, then maybe we should make sure our children's descendents are alive to enjoy it i.e. kill the terrorists. A healthy planet is a good idea as long as we don't get extreme w/ that idea but, a healthy planet w/ no people is no idea at all.
  8. The U.S. cleans up it's messes better than any country in the world. And if you want the rest of the world to follow suit, spread capitalism. If you want to pursue stringent environmental controls based on a theory, you might end up bankrupting our future children.
  9. Shouldn't be that difficult a decision if you plan on breeding. If you don't plan on contributing to the "future generations", then feel free to go right ahead and f*ck up the planet to your little heart's content. Pretty simple: take care of the planet or get a vasectomy.
  10. Republicans don't believe so. By and large, they are against ANYTHING "green" that protects the planet. They just see environmentalism as a "Liberal" cause.
  11. let me know when you see signs of such ,OK..France has over 30 nuclear power plants and the cleanest air..lol...America stopped making nuclear power plants in the 70,s....I say 70,s...cheerio
  12. "We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children" - Chief Seattle A very wise sentiment. We owe it to the survival of the human race to not screw the Earth up more than is absolutely necesary, and to put things right wherever we can.
  13. Except that people have been using language like that to criticize free commercial activity for a few hundred years now and the earth is more livable today than it ever has been. Longhair - talking about human living conditions. Across the world they're better than ever. People live longer, they eat more and better, etc.... They just don't all live the way YOU want them to live.
  14. That makes perfect sense. Just don't tax me outrageously in order to do it while the taxers are living in mansions and flying private jets.
  15. Time to step up. Kidding ourselves could destroy humanity completely. I believe it is time to plant the seeds of responsibility into our young ones and show them why we need to protect the planet. Earth really is not a big planet in our solar system, and it is the only one we have right now to support us. It is not so hard to change the way we live a little bit to ensure our own safety, not to mention the planet in general.
  16. I'll tell you what, You show me some science behind Global Warming and I'll sell my SUV to Al Gore . All I've seen says CO gasses do not cause Global Warming, It's a natural occurrence that has happened before on a larger scale compared to today's stats. Not any thing you discovered during your last shroom run. either. I don't litter and I support Nuclear and air power for cost reasons, so answer me this... If fossil fuel comes from dead ship, according to federal environmental stats, there are 74% more creatures in this country since we arrived, due to less forest fire devastation, and twice as many trees, How could we run out of fossil fuels? World wide population of creatures has exploded even with the extinction of some creatures,( Actually increases other populations. )
  17. Yes.I find it sad that the American bald eagle, the symbol of our great nation is on the endangered species list.
  18. yes we do have this morally ethic responsibility...the future will come, with or without hope.
  19. The Bible tells us to be good stewards of God's creation. Greed is one of the seven deadly sins. Conservation and conservative come from the same root word.
